Help spread awareness for build reproducibility

Please help us spread the word discussing build reproducibility with CryptoTab Farm — Turn Computers into Digital Gold  via their Twitter!

Do your own research!

Try out searching for "lost bitcoins", "stole my money" or "scammers" together with the wallet's name, even if you think the wallet is generally trustworthy. For all the bigger wallets you will find accusations. Make sure you understand why they were made and if you are comfortable with the provider's reaction.

If you find something we should include, you can create an issue or edit this analysis yourself and create a merge request for your changes.

Paid and can’t get add to the farm. Just keep going round and round. Installation and adding to the farm needs to be mare straight forward. No response to refund subscription fee.

The App

We downloaded the app to test it. Apparently, it allows users to get “workers” (in the form of CPU or GPU) to mine bitcoins. Adding more ‘workers’ increases the hash rate, which makes the ‘bitcoin’ balance go up. Once a certain threshold is met, the user can withdraw Bitcoins. Users can purchase different plans with a different number of workers.

The lowest plan that we saw was about $2.

There is no way to verify if the Bitcoin balances displayed on the app as the user’s balance are real bitcoins or not. There is no way to deposit Bitcoin. Purchases of ‘plans’ are denominated in our local currency and not bitcoins.

Since we cannot deposit Bitcoin, it looks like this app cannot actually hold your digital assets. Regardless if the bitcoins are truly “mined” or not, this app does not function as a wallet and doesn’t hold your bitcoin.

Verdict Explained

This appears to not be a product to receive and send money.

As part of our Methodology, we ask:

Is it a wallet? If not, we tag it No Wallet

If it’s called “wallet” but is actually only a portfolio tracker, we don’t look any deeper, assuming it is not meant to control funds. What has no funds, can’t lose your coins. It might still leak your financial history!

If you can buy Bitcoins with this app but only into another wallet, it’s not a wallet itself.
